Wal-Mart Stores, the nation’s largest retailer, announced on Monday that its blood pressure service, Walmart Blood Pressure, will now provide a free mobile app to users.
The app will allow Wal-Marts customers to see a list of the recommended blood pressure medications and then provide users with a link to purchase those medications online.
The company will also provide a link on the app to a Walmart pharmacy to pick up those medications.
Wal-mart, in an effort to help more people, announced last month that it is providing a free iPhone app for users of the company’s apps to get the information they need.
The apps will allow users to see the blood pressure status of their family members and friends.
The mobile app will be available for free from Friday through Sunday and will cost $2.99 for users with an Apple iOS device.
Walmart is not the only retailer to offer a blood pressure app, however, other retailers are offering similar free apps, like Target, Target Meals, Best Buy, and Amazon.
A Wal-marts app will not include a prescription to help people with blood pressure.
“As we know, blood pressures can affect our quality of life, and Wal- Mart’s app will make sure our customers and their health team can continue to get their needs met,” a company spokesperson told CNBC.
“We’re committed to providing an accurate, up-to-date list of blood pressure drugs for our customers, including Wal- mart Blood Pressure.
We’ve also added our own prescription search tool, so that we can make sure that all of our customers are getting the correct medication, and we’ll also add a tool to help patients find their own prescription,” said a Wal-marstain spokesperson.
