A US government study published Thursday found that nutrigrain (a form of blood pressure-lowering medication) is more effective than a standard blood pressure treatment when treating hypertension, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Researchers from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) tested blood pressure levels using a method that measures the difference in blood vessels and other blood vessels between healthy and sick people.
Researchers found that patients with hypertension had lower blood pressure after taking the drug.
Nutrigrain works by releasing nitric oxide, a natural gas that is used by cells in the body to store excess water.
It can reduce the production of nitric oxides, or nitric acid, in the blood and lower the risk of heart disease, stroke and death, according the FDA.
The drugs were also found to lower cholesterol and blood pressure by up to 30%.
Nutrigroves blood pressure medications are also approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
They are currently available in the US only for adults and children.
Nutrirograin is currently in Phase III clinical trials for people with type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
It is also approved for use in people with certain cancers.
Nutrove, which has been around since 1999, is a drug that was approved in 1998 by the US Food and Drugs Administration.
Nutragrain is the second-most widely used blood pressure drug in the world, according a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in December.
Researchers looked at data from more than 16 million people who have taken the drug over a 10-year period.
Nutruvre is currently the only blood pressure medicine approved by FDA.
Its FDA-approved generic form is sold in the United States through several health insurance plans.
